At the end of April 2005, at the age of fifteen, Hudeček achieved great success at the 15th Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Musicisti “Citta di Barletta” in Italy, where he became the absolute winner of all categories in the competition of wind instruments (under 30 years). In 2008 he won the 1st prize and the title of laureate in the 42nd annual national radio competition Concertino Praga. He is also a laureate of the international radio competition, on the basis of which he subsequently recorded a bassoon concert by Jan Nepomuk Hummel for Czech Radio. In May 2014, he won the 1st prize and the title of laureate in the Prague Spring International Interpretation Competition out of 111 participants from all over the world. In this context, he also received the Czech Music Fund Award for the best performance of a composition by a contemporary Czech author, composed especially for this occasion (Jiří Teml: Commedia for bassoon and piano).

Jan Hudeček is one of the leading Czech bassoonists of the young generation. He has a wide and varied range of technical and expressive interpretive skills full of captivating energy. He is able to draw the audience into his interpretive concept with clear persuasiveness with extraordinary charisma. His interpretation balances naturally emotionally emotional insight with conceptually analytical.

He has performed in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, France, Turkey, Spain, Japan and the USA. In June 2015, he graduated from the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of prof. František Herman and prof. Jiří Seidl, obtained a master’s degree and is also mainly engaged in solo concert activities. He likes to promote 20th century music, especially by Czech authors. Since the end of 2011, he has been a solo bassoonist with the orchestra of the National Theater in Prague and is also the first bassoonist with the Solistes European Luxemburg orchestra.
